Friends of the festival:
San Polo is a pleasant village located on the river Enza which is the border between Reggio Emilia and Parma provinces. See the map. This area, with ruins of Canossa Castle and the beautiful Rossena Castle nearby, brings to mind the Middle Ages in the epoch of Matilde di Canossa. Other noteworthy features are the Torrechiara, Bianello Castles, Petrarca poetic site in Selvapiana, the Pieve and the Castle in San Polo itself. The area is also appealing for gastronomic attractions, since it is the original area of Parmigiano Reggiano and the area of the seasoning of the celebrated Prosciutto di Parma (Parma Ham). In the restaurants, culinary traditions of “Cucina Reggiana” live on.
